About Me:
My name is Stephanie Smith, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been working in the field of social work for over 15 years. I provide both individual and couples therapy using an integrative and holistic approach to treatment. My primary modalities are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Neuro Somatic Intelligence (NSI), Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Gottman couples therapy, as well as Trauma Resiliency and Community Resiliency Models (TRM and CRM).
Many of the individuals I have the privilege of working with are facing a variety of challenges and difficulties. Concerns I commonly treat include: trauma and attachment disruptions, trust issues, relational wounds and disconnection (including difficulties with being present with self and having attuned connection with others), grief and loss, anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress, sexual health and intimacy challenges and concerns, as well as communication and boundary difficulties.
I myself, have known hurt and have experienced the pain associated with grief and loss in various forms. It is through my own ongoing process, that I found strength in becoming an expert of my own journey. What is more is that through my journey, I developed a passion to create a safe space for others willing to explore and become experts of their journeys. I love helping clients find confidence to be their authentic selves while helping them creating more meaningful connections with those they love.
At Redefined Counseling and Consulting, PLLC, I provide transformative support for individuals and couples, heal from past trauma, navigate emotional pain, and break free from patterns that keep them feeling stuck from moving forward. When Working With Me:
As humans, we all face challenges and need the safe non judgement support from others. I truly enjoy working with with individuals and couples as they learn to value and connect with their authentic selves.
I wholeheartedly believe that when we learn to foster an appreciation for our biological response to stress, apply somatic techniques for befriending and soothing the nervous system, and understand our core attachment needs, we can expand resilience with self and deepen connection with those we love. My hope for clients is that they find confidence to incorporate regulating and connecting practices into daily living, thus cultivating a life trajectory to build upon, look forward to and rest within.
Clients will find that I enjoy the power of creativity and curiosity. I strive to actively engage with and find that showing up authentically creates safety for others to explore and honor their authentic selves. My therapeutic values are honesty, creativity, mindfulness, empathy and curiosity, and my hope is to bring these skills to each session in order to fully support healing.
I love learning and see myself as a life-long learner. So I can often be found reading, in a training, or engaging in various consultation groups. In addition to my passion for helping others, my greatest passion is as a wife and mother. I love to dance, laugh, and be with my family and friends. I enjoy long drives, lakes and oceans, mountains, paddle boarding and kayaking, and exploring. Dancing and Music are the gateways to my heart. Listening to beach vibes, reggae music, and growing into somewhat of a groupie for my favorite artists has become my favorite pastimes. I love going to concerts and music festivals. I find them rejuvenating and soul-fulfilling. I have become fond of the saying "Stay Irie" which means to respect yourself, be happy with who you are, and stay cool."
C.S Lewis said "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending."
We are all on the journey of life. We find ourselves in challenging places, walking unique paths, and needing to explore different truths. We may not be able to change where we started, or what lead us to our current place. However, we can decide how to walk the path given, change the direction we are headed, and gain tools to help us navigate difficult parts along the way. It is important to remember that experiences shape us and expectations impact us, but neither define us. As we explore our own paths and truths, we gain more understanding of ourselves, how we show up in life, and what holds us back from stepping into the life we so desire. Through this understanding, we are able to become experts of our own journey, redefining who we want to be one step at a time.
It is my honor to walk with and support you as you embark on this journey.
